What is the ORS Summit?

The ORS Summit is a community-led event building up Oregon’s greatest resource–one another–to strengthen disaster resilience. This summit brings together survivors, government officials, policy-makers, businesses, community-building organizations, and nonprofits to share strategies, insights, lessons, and visions for a more resilient future. This is a welcome space for difficult conversations and emotions, but also an occasion to let loose, regroup, and have fun, because joy and trust are necessary to sustain us for the long haul.

The intense and ongoing wildfires across Oregon make this year’s Summit especially urgent. Summit partners are preparing a safe “landing space” for those impacted to debrief the recent fires and connect with resources,  solutions, and each other.

Community-Driven Topics

Join us in October to reconnect and rally around the exciting recovery and resilience work that’s been happening throughout the state. Based on the priorities and feedback of community organizations and 100+ applications for speakers and panelists, we’re thrilled to offer the following topics in 2026:

• The PRO Plan–celebrate and meet with 53 statewide peer community-led organizations working collaboratively to shape resilience in Oregon
• Small Businesses–what they need to minimize and recover from disaster impacts.
  
• Community Land Trust models–reimagining land stewardship/development, resource flows, wealth building, and stabilizing communities long term
  
• Oregon’s Food Systems–emerging and existing networks, and how organizations and systems can work together to meet growing food security needs
  
• Traditional Art & Storytelling–explore how art encourages placemaking, trust-building, and cultural identity–a recipe for resilience, but also response and recovery
  
• Technology & AI–what needs harnessing and what can run wild (within reason!)

This event is community-led and programmed–meaning that it is organized in large part by CBOs and survivors. We offer free and discounted registration for disaster-impacted communities, and we also hope to offer sponsor-enabled stipends to offset the costs of travel, childcare, missed income, and other barriers to attendance.
